Cheyenne Mountain Lacrosse Club, Lacrosse

ABOUT CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN LACROSSE CLUB:

·         Cheyenne Mountain Lacrosse Club was founded in 1996 and is a non-profit, volunteer based club organized to facilitate recreational youth lacrosse play.
·         We currently field recreational teams from 2nd -8th grade (boys) and 3rd-8th grade (girls) for the spring lacrosse season. Summer, fall and winter (indoor) programs are offered as well.
·         We are members of the Colorado Youth Lacrosse Association and the Colorado Girls Lacrosse Association.

SPRING SEASON:
·         2010  League games begin April 3 for the boys and the beginning of April for the girls. The season ends in late May with the Rocky Mountain Jamboree (tournament) in Denver. Games are scheduled on Saturdays with an occasional Sunday or weekday make–up game.
·         Practices typically begin in mid to late February. We use the fields at the El Pomar Youth Sports Complex and District 12 school fields for practice locations. Each coach determines the number of practices each week, and older players will practice more often. Plan on a minimum of two practices per week.
·         Boys can expect a minimum of 8 league games per season. Girls have 6 regular season games, and an additional 3 at the end-of-season Festival in May. Additional games will be played during the end of season tournaments, should your team elect to participate.
·         Home games are played at El Pomar Youth Sports Complex in Colorado Springs. With few exceptions, away games are played at various locations around Denver, and occasionally as far north as Boulder and Ft. Collins.

COSTS AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
·         Dues for 2010 are $185 and include your son's/ daughter's US Lacrosse membership.  The Club requires all players and coaches to have a current membership with US Lacrosse through the end of the season in question. Your registration fees contribute to field rental and maintenence expenses, referee assignment and fees, Colorado Youth Lacrosse (CYLA) membership, Colorado Girls Lacrosse Association (CGLA) membership, Supplemental Accident Insurance through US Lacrosse, District 12 Athletics, League and Team equipment (goals, nets, balls, ect) and player/ team membership dues for the Mountain Lax tournament in Evergreen, or the Warrior Lacrosse Jamboree in Denver.
(subject to team election).

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
·         BOYS: Lacrosse stick, helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, mouth guard and cup.
·         GIRLS: Lacrosse stick, goggles and mouth guard.

VOLUNTEERS:
·         The Cheyenne Mountain Lacrosse Club is a volunteer organization. Nobody is paid (although parent coaches don’t pay registration fees, and non-parent coaches are given a small stipend to reimburse them for direct expenses). All youth organizations face the problem of parent volunteers leaving as their children move up to the High School, so we always need new volunteers. Any support is welcomed, and we especially welcome parents who are interested in coaching their kids. No prior lacrosse experience is required (though helpful), and we will provide training. Coaching kids is an extremely rewarding experience, and we highly recommend it. Parents also may volunteer to be team managers, team parents, or simply to assist the coaches by making the season as enjoyable as it can possibly be.
